"Elk Migration"
30 x 60 inches (x3)

This triptych was carved to read as one continuous ridge-to-meadow passage. It depicts an elk herd moving through a high meadow at first light, the bull calling from the left while the rest of the herd crosses.

This landscape was carved and printed the way you experience them on foot: slowly. Conifer needles, aspen bark, grass blades, and each animal's coat are carved line by line with gouges. From far away you get the migration. Up close, you get the texture of the country itself.
